Allowing for Spelling Errors

Question Writer 3.5 (Professional) can allow leeway for incorrect spellings in Fill-In-The-Blank answers.

Try this quiz, Stuff You Probably Know But Can't Spell - it's a real test of knowledge - If you know the answers, but can't spell them, you'll still get most of the marks. If you don't know the answers you won't.

This can be a fairer way to assess knowledge than a Multiple Choice question - where the student does not know the answer, but can easily pick it out of a list.

Here's some more details on exactly how the scoring works.

Question Writer 3.5 is Ready!

Question Writer 3.5 is now out of beta. You can download it here and start using the new features.
I think the really exciting new feature is the spelling error tolerance in the fill-in-the-blank style questions. This allows fill-in-the-blank questions to be used in a much wider range of situations than before.

There's lots more too - much improved text format import and export, export for Pearson VUE, and a range of navigation and feedback options that have been heavily requested on the forum.

Extended Hosting Package

A free Question Writer Tracker account provides 100MB free storage space and 1GB (1024MB) free bandwidth per month. This is enough space and transfer capacity for most uses, but if you find you need more - you have two options.

i) You can host your quizzes on your own webserver - Question Writer Tracker will still process an unlimited number of resultsets from your quiz, so you can log-in and analyse those results, or download them to view in Excel.

ii) You can buy an extended bandwidth package. $119 covers 12 months additional capacity and gives you an additional 1GB storage space and an additional 10GB bandwidth per month.
