12 Month Upgrade Protection Extended to Quiz Edition

I've made the decision today to extend 12 month upgrade protection to Quiz Edition. Upgrade protection means that you're entitled to use new versions of the software you purchased that are released during your upgrade protection period. This is a retroactive change too - if you've already purchased Quiz Edition, the 12 month period applies from the date of your purchase.

This also means that I can release new features in Quiz Edition as they are ready, rather than hoarding them all for a new release. So expect to see incremental changes to the software, with new features added throughout the year. Every so often, I'll bump the version number up to reflect a collection of new features.

Also, just a note about the special pricing for Quiz Edition Commercial Edition ($295) - it ends on Friday and goes back to $420.

Publisher Edition 2.0

I've just made Publisher Edition Version 2.0 available for download - you can download a trial from the usual download location or if you purchased an earlier version - use the same location and password you used to download the earlier version.

Version 2.0 has 11 new themes, all using the same navigation bar - there's a lot more space in these themes for questions and content. The 11 new themes have also been added to the latest download of Quiz Edition.

$125 Discount Offer / Site Licensing

We're running a special offer on Quiz Edition (Commercial License) until the end of the month. The normal price is $420 - but for the rest of March, it's available for $295. That's a saving of $125.

I've also made academic site licenses available too. An academic site license will allow you to run Quiz Edition on every computer owned the institution, and all staff/faculty can run the software on their home computers too. It's priced accoring to the number of students at the institution and prices start at $849 for upto 1000 students.

The Education Show Riddler

We're going to be exhibiting at The Education Show in Birmingham this week (Thursday - Saturday). We'll be at stand E61 - we're going to have a 'Riddler' theme, with a Riddler Quiz, and a prize of a Quiz Edition site licence and an original 1964 Batman Riddler Comic. The comic ain't worth much, but hopefully it'll generate more interest than just another frickin iPod. The comic is on the stand if you want to take a look.

New theme sneak preview

It's taking longer than I though to make the themes for the 2.0 Publisher release. By way of apology for this delay, here's a sneak preview of one of new themes. A request that we'd gotten was for more sensible themes - The new themes have the same navigation bar, but a different background each time. None are too over the top, and are suitable for a variety of situations. Hopefully, they're not too naff either.

Cycling Through Selections

I've just made another Flash Component Question available. It's a selection mechanism that allows the user to cycle through a number of options by clicking until the right one shows up. Here's an example - I just switched the style of question from the earlier drop down select question. Same questions - different selection mechanism.

This one was really simple to make, only about 40 lines of code. The source code for all the FCQs is available If you want to make your own (or have your rentacoder guy do it) then all the technical specifications for making Flash Component Questions are in the manual.
